Laser Cutting

We utilise an ultra dynamic laser cutting instrument, which meets the latest cutting technologies, called the Universal Laser machines. The maximum size for the laser cutting area is 800 x 450 mm. We can produce extremely narrow, precise slits, and complex shapes. Due to the digitally controlled property, the laser cutting machine can generate identical shapes.

Laser cutting is tremendous for: models, billboards, displays, business cards, birthday cards, greeting cards, flyers and inlay products e.g. cardboard.

Engraving

At TREX Laser you can select from a range of premium materials which are suitable for engraving. During the illustration process, the laser illuminates the desired result into the material, leaving a textured surface. Laser engraving provides many advantages over the conventional engraving techniques. It is fast, flexible and delivers high quality resolution. The laser beam has a very small diameter, thus fine lines or dots can be expressed on the material. We can engrave text, pictures and logos. Almost every material can be engraved by us. 3D Printing

3D printing is a manufacturing technique which is also known as rapid prototyping. In today's manufacturing industry, this way of producing is getting more attention. It offers many advantages over traditional manufacturing techniques. For instance, complex shapes can be produced within a respectable amount of time while keeping the costs low. TREX Laser allows you to transform your 3D drawings into tangible models. Our 3D printer can print multiple formats: PLA plastic wire and plastic ABS with the dimension of 220x220x220mm.


We utilise e.g. the following materials:

PLA

PLA stands for polylactic acid or polylactide. It is a biodegradable plastic which is suitable for re-use. PLA is mainly used for visual prototypes.


ABS

ABS is a hard plastic. This material is mechanically stronger than PLA and therefor it is especially suitable for products which have to be tested for functionality. The product is built up layer by layer by our 3D printer. ABS tends to deform if a heated bed (a platform that increases the quality of the printing) is not used during the building process.

3D Printing can we used for e.g.: architecture, prototyping, manufacturing components, consumer products, product innovation, product design, design and art.

MDF

What is MDF?

MDF stands for Medium Density Fibreboard. MDF plates consists of dried compressed timber fibre, which is aggregated with synthetic resin glue. MDF has a medium-hard density, a fine, dense fiber structure and a smooth surface. In addition, MDF is in all directions equally strong. TREX Laser utilises FSC Medite MDF plates. Medite is coarse and smooth, which makes it stronger than other MDF plates and has a smoother surface. Furthermore, it has an enhanced paint holding capacity, which is essential if you would like to add a colour on your plate. Also, the edge of the plate can be well finished.


Processing

Laser cutting generates smoke stains, thus making the edges around the cutting parts dark (light to dark brown). The stains can be removed using a sandpaper (320 grit). If you want to paint the MDF, keep in mind that you will have to use the sandpaper beforehand. Do this for the best results with grit 400. Use as a base layer MDF primer.

Plywood

What is multiplex?

Plywood consists of 3 or more layers of glued wood. TREX Laser uses FSC Birch Plywood sheets. Birch plywood is technically the finest out there. The plywood plates are made of thin layers of wood of the same thickness, this ensures that the plywood is stronger.


Processing

The discolouration of the cutting edge varies from dark brown to black. Due to the natural property of the material, the smooth light wood surface can have a colour variation. Normally, the surface is not covered with a coating such as MDF, but it's certainly possible. Also, you can finish it with a varnish or stain.

ACRYLATe

What is acrylate?

Acrylic is a high quality plastic. The official name is Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA). The thermoplastic synthetic material is better known under the trade names Perspex, Plexiglas, and acrylate. It is used for various applications and is the most commonly used plastic material for laser cutting.
It is made from acetone, methanol, hydrogen cyanide and sulfuric acid. However, the final product acrylic is harmless. TREX Laser has acrylate in the milky white color, white and black. There are also different colours in acrylic frost available.


Processing

Acrylic is a light material and unlike glass it does not shatter. All sorts of shapes can be produced with this material. It is a clear, hard plastic that can be processed to a thickness of 8 mm. The cutting edges maintain their color and get a shiny appearance. The flat surface can be great for engraving.


Specifications

TREX Laser has acrylate in milky white, white and black. These are in the sizes 250 mm x 250 mm and 450 mm x 500 mm available. The milky white acrylic is available in 2 mm, 4 mm and 5 mm. We have the White and black acrylic in 3 mm and 5 mm in stock.

We can also provide acrylate in the frost embodiment. Acrylate frost is available in the following colours: dark yellow, light blue, light yellow, light green, orange, purple, red and pink. All frost acrylic sheets have a thickness of 3 mm and are available in the size 400 mm x 450 mm and 450 mm x 800 mm.

Cardboard

What is Cardboard?

Cardboard is actually a thick pack of paper. The raw material and the production of paper show great similarity. Cardboard is achieved when the grammage is at least 180 g / m2. There are different types of cardboard. Folding cardboard carton is thin and is made of 180 g / m2 to about 600 g / m2. Solid or gray cardboard is a thick cardboard with the grammage above 600 g / m 2. In addition there is also corrugated. This is produced in a different way. It is made up of a wavy middle layer of thick paper on both sides with a flat layer of paper. Corrugated cardboard consists of least three layers of paper that have been glued together. TREX Laser offers white, gray, and black cardboard.


Processing

Cardboard is sturdy and is therefore designed for other applications than paper, for instance for packaging. Also, it is suitable for fine work. Please mind that the edge of the cardboard will be discoloured when processed with the laser machine. The thinner the thickness of the cardboard, the less the effect will be visible. Cardboard is a great material for engraving, please mind that it may create a discoloured surface or edge when processed.

Corrugated cardboard is very strong and is easily cut. Since the cutting edge of the individual layers are very thin, discolouration is minimal. Using a dry cloth, you can remove the stains. Additionally, you can also paint the corrugated sheet. Do this with a paint that contains little water to prevent deformation of the cardboard and paint at both ends to prevent warping. Finally, the board can be glued with normal or wood glue. When you would like to glue the whole surface, please use a adhesive spray.


Specifications

TREX Laser has 1 and 2 mm cardboard and is available in grey, white and black. Corrugated cardboard is available in Brown. Both types are in the sizes 400 mm x 450 mm and 450 x 800 mm.
